Fashion is a form of escape, fantasy, or social commentary. A few weeks ago, Giorgio Armani marked the outbreak of World War II by holding his Milan Fashion Week show in silence. And president of the Federation of Haute Couture and Mode, Ralph Toledano, encouraged people to see the shows with solemnity, as they reflect on dark times.

Despite a sudden death of founder Virgil Abloh, the brand will carry on, and its first show during Paris Fashion Week was a tribute to Abloh’s legacy. The event, titled ‘Spaceship Earth: An Imaginary Experience’, featured couture-like looks. The event was live-streamed in nearly 100 retail locations around France.

The runway show featured models wearing skiwear, a sparkly lilac micro-minidress, and chunky quilted jackets. The brand also included a line of performance materials for the fall, with collaborations with Nike and Church’s. In addition, the company will introduce a beauty line for women in the spring.

Thom Browne

The show will take place in the museum’s American Wing. Thom Browne is owned by the Ermenegildo Zegna group and posted 264 million euros in sales last year.

Thom Browne has made a name for himself for his gray wool suits. His fall collection showcased a mix of styles and fabrics, including boxy long jackets, straight-leg trousers, pleated skirts, and repp platform heels. The fall 2022 collection reflects the brand’s affinity for the eccentric and the quirky.
